Giving Thanks

I am thankful for my kids, family, friends and lifestyle.
On Thanksgiving morning our family, both local and out of town, spent a couple hours on Casper Mountain at our very nice nordic center. Skate skiing is great a great cardio workout and is a fun way to pass the time between alpine ski opportunities.
Mid day we fished. The pic above is my 6 y/o with a rainbow stuck with a Near 'Nuff Sculpin below Government Bridge yesterday.
Late Thanksgiving afternoon my son and I rode our bike to Grandma's house, laughing all the way. We hit every possible sidewalk jump there was on our way to and from a great Thanksgiving feast.
It is hard to complain right now. Thanks to all of you who have supported us then, now and in the future. Hope you had a wonderful day!

Wyo-Braska Waterfowl

Here's a few shots from this morning's hunt with NPL/TRFS guide JJ Randolph. There are really no words to describe the hunt and the level of his operation. Thanks buddy!

Late Season Streamer Fishing

We had an awesome time. I cannot remember ever being on the river for an entire day without seeing other boats, let alone 4 days in a row…..and the fishing was pretty On-Fire for me every day. I love throwing streamers in the fall and Seth is a machine!

Winter Rates and The Reef Fly Shop Advantage

New TRFS hats available now.

It has been a busy year but things are winding down. Fishing is definitely NOT over. Beginning November 15th we will start our winter rates of $350. You don't have to buy this trip at a show. As always with a North Platte Lodge and The Reef Fly Shop trip you don't have to sacrifice a lot for this price. The day will be slightly abbreviated due to conditions but won't be the short 5 hour special you've grown accustomed to. You don't do the shuttles like you've grown accustomed to. You get still get all of our private access. But, you will be responsible for bringing your own food. We provide the drinks and terminal tackle as always.
With us you fish all day and you aren't responsible for doing the shuttle. PLUS you get the most exclusive private access in the region and the most experienced guides. Do the math.

Myth: Grey Reef only fishes well in spring

Above: Kirk Kauffman landed this 26.5" brown yesterday(10/16/11) with Rick guiding. Location: Upper Grey Reef

Above: Greg Davisson with a 23" brown with Seth guiding. Greg also landed a 24" rainbow on their half day trip(top). Location: Lower Grey Reef downstream of Casper, WY.

Right now we are covering nearly 100 miles of North Platte River to satisfy all fishing situations and change of scenery. Trophy class fish landed with regularity and high numbers hitting the net daily. Yesterday one boat had 38 fish in the net by lunchtime. Gluttony! Dry fly mayhem, nymphing excellent and streamers producing well for the dedicated. DO NOT pass up a chance to fish Grey Reef this time of year.
